Panel Discussion

August 28, 2025 @ 11:00 am - 12:00 pm

The ÐÔÊӽ紫ý community is invited to attend the Discussion Panel, “Honoring 135 Years: Building Pathways Through Education,” on Thursday, August 28, 2025, from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm in the E. L. Holloway Building. Guest panelists include Dr. Rashell Campbell-Daughty, Joyce Henderson, and Marilyn Luper Hildreth (daughter of alumna Clara Luper). Lunch will follow immediately after the panel discussion closes.

Established under the Second Morrill Act of 1890, the 1890 Land-Grant Institutions opened doors to higher education for African Americans in a segregated society. Today, these Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) remain vital engines of opportunity, innovation, and community growth.

More than 130 years later, ÐÔÊӽ紫ý proudly carries this legacy forward—advancing educational equity, social mobility, and community impact through research, teaching, and student success.

This special panel will bring together faculty, staff, and students from across the 1890 network to reflect on:

  • The historical and ongoing significance of the 1890 Land-Grant mission
  • Faculty, staff, and student contributions that drive research, innovation, and leadership
  • The challenges and opportunities ahead for 1890 institutions

Led by distinguished ÐÔÊӽ紫ý alumnae, this conversation will honor the past, celebrate the present, and envision the future of 1890 Land-Grant Universities.
